Photographed in the Heart of the Rainforest
In the photo featured by Vogue, Tigrilo’s head designer Caroline Adamy wears the Kai Kené bikini—a signature piece designed in collaboration with Shipibo artisan Jovita Maynas, who hand-drew the traditional Kené pattern that inspired the print. The image was captured by Jessica Davies, better known as @jessithefarmer, during a stay in the lush rainforest of Tambopata, Madre de Dios, Peru. The setting? A breathtaking eco-lodge by Inkaterra Hotels, pioneers in sustainable hospitality in the Amazon Basin.

Rooted in Tradition, Designed for Exploration
The Kai Kené bikini is more than a swimsuit—it's a story woven through generations of Amazonian artistry. Its bold motif features a hand-drawn Kené design by Jovita Maynas, a Shipibo artist from the Peruvian Amazon whose ancestral patterns reflect protection, energy flow, and spiritual harmony.
Each suit is crafted in Peru using buttery-soft recycled fabrics, then finished by hand in Lima with intricate beaded embroidery by the Menin-Yaby Collective, a group of eight Shipibo-Konibo mothers based in the Cantagallo community. Their detailed beadwork is a celebration of identity and resilience, and every piece carries their mark of care and culture.
.
Together, these layers of collaboration reflect Tigrilo’s mission: to create ethical swimwear that empowers women, honors indigenous knowledge, and protects the ecosystems and cultures that inspire us.
